Dr. Achyut Aryal is a forester, wildlife biologist and conservation expert. He completed a PhD in conservation biology from Massey University, New Zealand and a master’s degree in Forest Ecology and Management from Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, Germany. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Massey University, New Zealand, Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, Australia and Teaching faculty at Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has used field and laboratory methods and geospatial modelling to conduct research on wildlife ecology, protected areas management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. He has received several research grants and published 100+ peer-reviewed articles in various journals. Dr. Aryal is affiliated with professional societies such as Deer and Lagomorph Specialist Group of IUCN as a member and as a co-chair of IUCN/SSC bear Specialist group/South Asian Brown Bear Expert team. BBC and Scientific American covered his research. He currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
